Wengen

We stayed at Hotel Schönegg, which is ideally located at the end of the village street. Upon arrival, we were picked up by a small cart. The gondola and cogwheel train are just a few minutes' walk away, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The breakfast room offers a stunning view of the mountains. We had a large terrace, though the room was a bit dated. The sauna, however, was fairly new and perfect for relaxing after a long day of skiing.
The photo shows the Hotel Bellevue des Alpes, one of the few remaining Grandhotels from the 19th century. We only saw the beautiful architecture from the outside, but we would love to visit it next time. A true hideaway in the mountains.

In the village
We had breakfast at our hotel and went out for dinner almost every night:
Restaurant Waldrand (we recommend: Vegan Käsefondue and the Superfood-Salad)
Restaurant 1903 (we recommend: Entenbrust à l’Orange)
Alpenkräuter Restaurant Bären(we recommend: Deer from one's own hunt, also try one of the fancy drinks)
On the mountain
Restaurant Eigernordwand (Because there is self-service, it's great for a quick lunch in the sun)
Hotel Restaurant Jungfrau Wengernalp (A very rustic old hotel and restaurant with charm and historical furnishings, nice for a special lunch, as it's a bit more expensive)
Bergrestaurant Brandegg (Our favorite, because you can sit beautifully in the sun, sometimes with traditional live music, and the food is very tasty and traditional, with quick service.)
Restaurant Hotel Bellevue des Alpes (It has a wonderful sun terrace that we would love to visit next time)
The village shop in Wengen is well-stocked, and there is a great baker. On two evenings, we got cheese and baguette and made our own snack. Highly recommended as well.
